Steps How to Get a Digital Certificate

 

1.       iCERT CA recommends the use of Netscape8.0 or higher for the purposes of enhanced security during the web subscription process. You can download the latest version of the Netscape Navigator from the Netscape site http://browser.netscape.com/ns8/ . After installation of the Netscape browser please open the iCERT homepage  http://www.icert.gov.in

 


 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

2.       If you are using Netscape 8.1, you have to configure the Netscape browser. Please open the Options -> Site Controls and select site settings to “Firefox”

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

3.       For all browser versions you have to set your master password. In case of Netscape 8.1 you can do this by going into Tools>Option>Privacy>Passcard Manager>Set Master Password, as follows:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 


 

 

 Please note that Netscape has enhanced security features and protects all your key-pairs and site passwords generated through the browser using a master password. When using this feature for the first time the Subscriber would be required to re-set the password. Please remember this password after resetting it because this would be required protect your private key that would be generated at the time of the submission of your public key through the web application. If you forget this password, reset this master password or format your hard drive anytime after submission of your subscription, you would lose your private key and your certificate would be rendered useless.

 

4.       Now, to begin enrolment as a general “public user”, i.e. a subscriber who is not an employee of iCERT or CBEC, click on the sub-menu “Apply for Certificates - For Public” under SERVICES menu as shown

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

5.       The iCERT CA Subscriber Agreement form would open for viewing.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

6.       Scroll down to the bottom of the page, after reading it carefully you would be required to press “Agree” or “Disagree”.


 

 

 

 

 

 

 

7.       For proceeding further for enrolment you have to agree to the subscription agreement.

8.       Before pressing “Agree”, you must take print out of the form. Please note that you would be required to submit it on a Stamp Paper of appropriate value, duly executed by you, along with a printout of your completed enrolment form and the prescribed documents to your jurisdictional RA and its concerned verification team. 

9.       After agreeing with the Subscriber Agreement, you will see the page as shown below. Click on the “Register” link to register as a new user.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

10.    Before continuing further you would be required to read the iCERT CA Verification Procedure carefully :


 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

11.    Before you begin the enrolment process you would be notified by the web application to either disable your personal or LAN firewalls or keep the PORTS from 60300 to 60400 open on your local Firewall:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

12.   Fill in your Personal details and Distinguished Name in Part A as shown below:


 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

13.    Fill in your Address
